Hadith 6 of CIE O Level Islamiat 2058 paper 2

Hadith 6                    life in the community

Translation
Whosoever of you sees an evil action, let him change it with his hand, and if he is not able to do so then with his tongue, and if he is not able to do so then with his heart, and that is the weakest of faith.            [J-09]

Teachings
(a)       This Hadith teaches us a simple lesson that a Muslim should hate evil and he is responsible to stop it. The highest level of faith is to stop evil by force. If he cannot use force, then he should stop it verbally. Sometimes we are in a position that we see an evil but cannot do anything due to our weakness, then we must feel that the act is evil. This is the lowest level of faith. We see an evil and we do not even feel that it is wrong, we may even lose our faith. This Hadith asks a Muslim to consider a wrong as something unacceptable. It encourages Muslims to fight against evil and wrong.

(b)       In Sura Ale Imran Ayat 110, Allah says:
"You are the best community that has been raised for mankind. You enjoin right conduct and forbid indecency and you believe in Allah".

This Quranic verse declares it clearly that every Muslim is responsible to stop evil. The Prophet (saw) went to Taif to give the message of Islam and those people not only rejected him but pelted stones on the prophet (saw).  This event teaches us that stopping evil is not easy and we have to face problems but we should be firm and steadfast. The Quran tells us a story of a nation which was destroyed where the pious people did not try to stop evils of the society. When something evil becomes good for us, Allah’s anger and wrath starts. This wrath may put us in major diseases, earth quakes and civil wars. For this reason this Hadith is a very important one.
