Passage 12

Passage 12         Sura 6:75-79      Al Anaam

Translation
BISMILLAH ARREHMAN ARRAHIM
75        So also did we show Abraham the power and the laws of the heavens and the earth, so that he might have certainty.
76        When the night covered him over, he saw a star: He said “This is my Lord” But when it set, he said: “I do not love things that set”
77        When he saw the moon rising in splendour, he said: 'This is my Lord.' But when the moon set, he said: 'Unless my Lord guides me, I will surely be among those who go astray'.
78        When he saw the sun rising in splendour, he said: 'This is my Lord; this is the greatest.' But when the sun set, he said: 'O, my people! I am indeed free from your giving partners to Allah.'
79        'For me, I have set my face firmly and truly towards Him who created the heavens and the earth, and never shall I give partners to Allah.'

Teachings
(a)   These ayaat of Sura Al Anaam show the relationship between Allah and His prophets who un dersttod the concept of Allah from His crerations and then Allah helped them understand the concept of Tauheed. The ayaat present two major themes of the Quran. One is Tauheed that is to believe that only Allah is worth worshipping and making partners in any of His authority is Shirk which in the sight of Allah is the biggest crime. Allah says in Sura Fussilat Ayat 37:
“Adore not the sun and the moon but adore Allah who
created them if it is Him you wish to worship".

The other theme is the prophethood of Abraham (as) who was one of the most prominent Apostles of Allah. From Abraham the two most important human races emerged that is Bani Israel and Bani Ismail. Allah made Ibrahim (as) realize and undederstand that this entire universe has not come into existence by accident. It was created by an Almighty power with a properly organized system. Since it was created by that Almighty power, it is the responsibility of human beings to submit themselves to that Al mighty power that is Allah.

Allah has scattered His signs everywhere. The universe, human body and the existence of life on earth are all signs of Allah. The only condition is to open our eyes and mind and think and then believe in Allah sincerely.

(b)    These Ayaat teach us that we should have a firm belief in the oneness of Allah. There should be no confusion in our mind about the existence of Allah because the signs of Allah are everywhere. In this age of science, we find that the existence of this universe and life is a planned work of some Al Mighty power. Therefore, we should depend on Allah in every matter of life.
“That is Allah, your Lord! There is no god but He, the Creator of all
things: then worship Him: and He has power to dispose of all affairs” [6:102]

We also learn that our belief in Allah should be like that of Abrahim (as). When he found the reality, he accepted it. We should always recognize reality and we should not show the behavior of being obstinate and stubborn. This is against reason that when we understand a reality and believe in something as fact, we should still deny it. This is against reason that such a huge system of this universe is running without any control. Who is controlling such a huge system. Reason demands that it is Almighty Allah who is controlling everything. Therefore we must believe in one Allah.
